"What do you want to be?" "Happy," she says with a smile. - Colleen Hoover

The Mistletoe Promise by Richard Paul Evans

The Mistletoe Promise is the 4th book I've read from my lovely Christmas themed library haul and it is tied for first (first favorite that is)!!
After reading so many Debbie Macomber books I was actually nervous going into this one. It bugged me because this was one of the books I was most excited for and yet there I was...palms clammy, lump in throat, total nervous mess. I may be exaggerating some but only a little.
Anywho I picked it up anyway and as with the other books I finished this in a day. Why has it taken me so long to read these? Geesh.
The Mistletoe Promise follows Elise and Nicholas who are so freaking charming it hurts.
Nick notices Elise sitting alone every day in the cafeteria of their office building and he approaches her with an idea. From then until Christmas the two of them will for all intents and purposes become a couple. They will attend holiday parties together, partake in Christmas activities, he will send her a gift every day, and all expenses will be covered by him as long as she agrees. Elise who has been divorced and admits hasn't taken care of herself since, agrees to sign the contract and become a faux girlfriend for 2 months.
Through out their time together it becomes more and more clear how perfect the two of them are for each other but they also have dark spots in their past that need to be uncovered before the two can completely commit.
Elise is one of the best characters I've read about in a while and I truly enjoyed reading her. Nicholas is every girls dream. He's handsome, kind, charming and funny. He is so good to Elise and during the book I kept finding myself day dreaming about him.
If you're looking for a very sweet read that also has a little more oomph then I'd definitely recommend this one!

I have watched the movie and while I thought it was very cute I actively had to tell my brain to not compare it to the book. I was getting upset while watching it because they are so far a part it's silly. The book has a lot more substance and I felt like the movie took away the integrity of the story. However if you go into knowing they are completely different I do believe you'll enjoy it.

Starry Night by Debbie MaComber

Last Thursday I reviewed Dashing Through the Snow and told you all about my lovely trip to the library and the beautiful Christmas display that convinced me to rent these magical books.
Starry Night was the first book that I decided to pick up because the plot reminded me vaguely of How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days. I mean very vaguely.
Our main characters are Carrie and Finn and oh my goodness do I love them so. Carrie is a columnist who is looking to start writing about things that she chooses - see why it reminds me of How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days? Her boss agrees to let her start writing whatever she wants if she scores an interview with Finn Dalton who is a notorious reclusive author.
Through a lot of investigation Carrie ends up figuring out how to find Finn and flies to Alaska to convince him to let her interview him.
However when the two meet Finn isn't exactly thrilled about her invading his privacy and isn't exactly pleasant at first. Obviously though they start to bond because if they didn't the book would royally suck. When Carrie goes to fly back home Finn kisses her and asks her not to write her article. From there the two have a whirlwind romance that is the sweetest thing ever and makes for a seriously enjoyable reading experience.
If you're looking for a book that is easy to read - I finished this in a day - and super cute then look no further book lovers I have found your next read.

Dashing Through The Snow by Debbie MaComber

Last week I decided to take a trip to my local library and pick up some new reading material and when I walked in I saw the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. A Christmas section. The librarian in my town is an absolute genius and she always makes everything look so beautiful and this display was no exception.
Now my goal going to the library was to just pick up something I've been wanting to read for a while and I did find about 3 novels that I carried around. But when I started looking at the books she had put out I decided to put everything I'd already grabbed back and get the Christmas books. I've never really read books like these and when I looked outside it was snowing and beautiful and it just seemed right.
Dashing Through The Snow is actually the second book I read out of my haul and I finished it in a day as well as the first book. It was so stinking cute!
The book follows Ashley and Dash and their trip from California to Washington. Ashley is flying home to surprise her mother for the holiday and Dash is trying to get to Seattle for a job interview. However neither have a way to get there aside from the one rental car that is available. Dash offers to pay for everything if Ashley will let him tag along -she got to the counter first to get the car - and after some reluctance and a phone call to his mother to confirm he isn't a serial killer she decides to road trip with the good looking stranger.
Through out their trip the two end up adopting an abandoned dog, meet a man who swears he impregnated an alien, and oh one other thing - they're running from the FBI...even though they don't know it.
Ashley was so stinkin' cute and excited for everything you can't help but laugh at her and Dash even with his attitude is extremely lovable.
This book was absolutely adorable and I would definitely recommend it! I don't think it necessarily needs to be a "Christmas read" but it makes for the perfect winter book.

Also this movie was turned into a Hallmark movie but I will say they changed A LOT so if you've seen the movie or you plan on watching it just be aware of that.

Ex's & OMG's Review: Turtles All The Way Down by John Green

Heather:
So like anyone who read The Fault in Our Stars I have been waiting patiently for John Green to come out with a new novel. When he finally announced Turtles All The Way Down was coming, I anxiously counted down the days for it's release. Now I admit I went into this book having very high hopes because, well I mean TFIOS was such a powerful story and remains one of my all time favorite books ever...how could this one not be just as good. So I started chapter one and quickly found my self with this deep dread that I had built my expectations too high. Before you start to hate on me let me explain, we open with Aza the main character and instantly learn that she has some deep issues of Anxiety and OCD that kinda takes control of her and gets a bit dark at times. She often refers to her life as a book or movie that someone else is writing. Her best friend Daisy, which seems to the opposite of Aza, had me questioning how these two are friends because they seem a little mismatched. As I continued I realized that through the course of their very stormy relationship they really are best friends. Okay now it took me a while to get through the first half of Turtles which center around Daisy who convinces Aza to help her investigate the disappearance of a fugitive billionaire in hopes of collecting the hefty reward from finding him. Daisy remembers Aza knows the billionaire's son Davis, whom Aza soon falls for which kinda halts the girls whole detective angle. Once the book picked up a little I found it hard to put it down. I needed to know how it ended. Most of the story is told from Aza's perspective which takes away the other characters a bit but the deeper we dive into this girls mind we see the often dark way she views the world and everything around her. Though a bit uncomfortable at times to see what she goes through while battling her anxiety and OCD it is a refreshingly honest account of what it really is like for someone who has these issues to deal with. I suffer from both of these as well and could actually relate to what Aza feels and John Green did such an amazing job at making me fell her pain. I was also pleasantly surprised that the ending of this story is actually pretty upbeat. This is definitely John's darkest book so far and I really hope everyone takes the time to read it, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Kayleigh:
My turn! :)
First I want to say that I am so thankful to Heather because she actually purchased me a signed edition of this book and when I got it I actually jumped. I have always wanted a signed John Green book and now I have one, so thank you again Heather!!
Since Heather has given you the gist of the plot I'm just going to tell you how I feel about it. I do agree that it was on the darker side but I actually felt like Looking For Alaska hit some darker points for me. So I think if you like a little more grit then you'd enjoy this one. I do agree that the ending was more upbeat than say...oh TFIOS...but I didn't really like it. I mean I guess in life things aren't always resolved and people don't always stay - and he did leave it open ended for two of the characters to reunite some day - but sometimes I read specifically for a happy ending. Although it is a John Green book so probably not the right choice for that.
Like Heather, I couldn't get into it at first. I too had built up this TFIOS love in my head and it was hard for me to not feel the same for this book. But as I continued I kept getting more and more attached to Aza. That girl goes through some serious minutes guys and imagining that there are people out there who go through these things break my heart. John Green always has a best friend in his books that are usually some of the best parts of the book but I was not a fan of Daisy for probably 75% of the book. I will say though that once her and Aza actually TALKED I got a different perspective for her and ended up really caring for her. I also loved Davis, I thought he was a fantastic character. He was so patient and sincere with Aza and I absolutely loved that.
John Green has this way to make you completely invest yourself in his stories. You don't even know that it's happening, it just does.
I would recommend this book if you are a fan of John Green and if you like more grit to your stories.

Top Ten Books I Want My Child (Or Future Children) To Read:

10. Sisterhood of The Traveling Pants by Anne Brashares
I'm not sure this is a series my son would enjoy of course but I do have a niece on the way so I'll definitely recommend it to her some day.

9. It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover
Now there are some scenes in the book that I'm not sure I'd want my kid reading but the overall message is so important. I want my son to treat women the right way and if I ever have a daughter I want her to know her worth.

8. Without Merit by Colleen Hoover
As with the last one I said this one has an important message I feel. I want my son to know that things aren't always as they seem, to stick up for himself when he needs to, and to know just how much I love him.

7. Percy Jackson and The Olympians by Rick Riordan
My brother and I read this series together ages ago and it meant the world to me so I'd love for my son to read them too. Maybe when his cousin is older they can read them together like my brother and I did.

6. The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton
The Outsiders is literally the only book I had to read in school that I actually enjoyed. There are so many lessons in it and now as an adult I understand why they want you to read it so bad.

5. The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
"And in that moment I swear we were infinite" is tattooed under my collarbone/shoulder because this book means so much to me. It should be recommended reading in school and I know when my son gets older I'm going to ask him to read it.

4. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
I think everyone should read The Hunger Games so obviously I want my son to.

3. Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling
I know what you're all thinking, why would you want your son to read Harry Potter when you've never read it. Well the answer is because I wish I had read it when I was younger. I remember everyone loving those darn books and I couldn't relate. They are some of the biggest books of my generation and I'd like him to experience them.

2. Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
-I'd like my son to read Twilight because it meant so much to me. I know a lot of people hate on the books - especially dudes - but it was such an important part of my life that I think it would be cool for him to enjoy it also.

1. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
-This book changed my life and it's no secret how much I love it. I mean I have "Okay" tattooed to my arm so I think that kinda shows you how much it means to me. I would love for my son to read this someday because it's my absolute favorite.

Under The Lights by Abbi Glines

If you read my post on Tuesday then you know that I've been in a reading slump so I picked up an Abbi Glines book to save me. After I finished Boys South of the Mason Dixon I decided I needed more Abbi Glines so I grabbed Under The Lights. I had bought this book over a month ago along with some others and I've been keeping it for this exact moment.
I read Until Friday Night this year too so hopefully you've read that review. If you haven't you can by clicking HERE
In Until Friday Night we meet Brady and Gunner and in this installment we get to see a love triangle form between them and their childhood friend Willa Ames.
Willa and the boys were best friends throughout childhood until she moved away when she was 11 years old. Her mother had her at like 15 years old and unfortunatly never really did a good job at being a mom. When Willa turns 11 her mom is married and having another child so she decides to take her from her grandma and raise her. That is until an extremely traumatic and heartbreaking thing happens to Willa landing her in juvie. The day she gets out her bags are packed and she finds herself homeless so she calls her grandma who is the only person who is willing to take her in.
When they were kids Willa was best friends with Gunner - the rich kid with the cocky attitude and adorable smile - and had a crush on Brady who lets face it is the all american boy. However now things have changed a little and she begins to notice that Brady isn't the boy giving her butterflies anymore.
As are her other books Under The Lights is told in multiple perspectives. I really liked getting to hear from Brady, Gunner, and Willa. I will tell you I was conflicted as to which "team" I was on at first. I mean I went into it thinking she'd be with Gunner but Brady is really nice so it was hard for me to not want to root for him. But after getting a few chapters in I realized there was no way I couldn't be Team Gunner.
So much happens in this installment of the Field Party trilogy and I absolutely loved it. If you're a fan of Abbi Glines - or even if you're not you crazy cat - then I definitely recommend this!!

Boys South of the Mason Dixon by Abbi Glines

Lately I haven't been posting many book reviews and that's because I've been in yet ANOTHER STINKING READING SLUMP.
I know, it hurts me too.
I was talking to my friend the other day and I was telling her how I thought the only way I could get out of my slump was to read a book that I wouldn't be able to put down. So obviously that means an Abbi Glines book. I've had Boys South of the Mason Dixon on my TBR for quite awhile now so I figured now was the time.
No surprise here, I loved it.
The book follows Dixie and Asher who have loved each other for years. When Dixie is 13 she realizes that she loves Asher but decides she'll never be more than his friend considering hes a couple years older than her and absolutely beautiful. Flash forward to Dixie's 15 birthday and Asher gives her her first kiss and thus begins their love story.
Asher is one of 5 Sutton boys and may I just say that he is so crush worthy it's sickening. I'm not surprised though because Abbi always writes incredible love interests.
Dixie is the girl next door, all american girl that all of the Sutton boys have a soft spot for. Flash forward again years later and Dixie is now dating Asher's brother Steele after he broke her heart and left town without a word to her.
Obviously Asher comes back to town and boy do things get interesting. Now I know what you're thinking - oh good another love triangle. BUT there is a twist to this book that I have NEVER read and boy did it make my jaw drop.
As usualy I'm a big fan of the supporting characters as well as our couple - like Dixie's mom and dad, they're so so wonderful.
I'm sure you saw this coming so there's no point in dragging it out...I definitely recommend this book ;)

Top Ten Books With Fall Cover/Themes (If the cover screams fall to you or the book gives off a feeling of being fall'ish)

Okay so this reminds me of fall by way of Halloween lol
The cover is spooky and so Halloween it's sickening and I love it!! P.S. This book is fantastic and if you want to check out my interview with the INCREDIBLE and SUPER NICE author Kendare Blake click HERE

The cover for this book is why I bought it. Don't yell at me, I know that's not what you're "supposed to do" but I did it and I don't regret it dang it! It's so dark and reminds me of a thriller which boy oh boy was it.

I think this one reminds me of fall because of the GORGEOUS colors!!
I've interviewed J.J. Howard too and she is so stinkin nice! Check out the interview HERE

It's football. Need I say more?

Those colors though!! <3

Well it's creepy like Anna Dressed In Blood and reminds me of Halloween and being to scared for my own good.

Stunning. Dark. Gawgeous.

I think Twilight reminds me of fall because it takes place in some of fall and because the first time I read it was in the fall. My gosh this book holds a special place in my heart <3

I'm sure a lot of you will say uh Kayleigh this looks summer'y but I disagree. When I see sun like that it just makes me warm which reminds me of sweaters which reminds me of boots and fall.

Vampires. Fall appropriate.

Without Merit by Colleen Hoover

A few months back I'm going through my emails and I see one from Atria Books. My heart raced, my palms got sweaty, my eyes went a little buggy, wanna know why? Because attached in that email was a copy of Without Merit by Colleen Hoover.
I cannot begin to express how excited I was to receive this book for review. Guys, it's freaking Colleen Hoover. She's like our Queen and we gladly bow to her because she's a stinkin genius.
Obviously once my kindle finished downloading this glorious novel I was on it just about as fast as I'm on a piece of confetti cake.
Our protagonist, Merit Voss, is unlike any character Colleen has introduced to us before. While all of the females she writes are incredible I feel like Merit had a little bit of a harder side and a whole lot more spunk. One day Merit is perusing the shelves of a local antique shop for her next trophy - yes you read that right, trophy. She began collecting trophies the night that her uber lame boyfriend broke up with her by stealing his football trophy. Thus began an addiction to acquire as many awards as possible without actually earning them. Anyway this particular afternoon she meets Sagan who shockingly is an incredible guy that makes you hate all other men. Yes Colleen, thank you for ruining the male species for us.
Unfortunately Sagan isn't available and it's a whole lot more complicated than just "he has a girlfriend".
Like all of her other books this one gave me every single emotion. At some points I was literally laughing out loud while other moments I was crying.
Not only do we have a love story woven in but we also get a family dynamic that we don't always get to see. I absolutely loved this book. Every page. Every sentence. Every single word. If - like me - you are a huge Colleen Hoover fan then by no means should you hesitate in reading Without Merit. I definitely recommend it!!

Ex's & OMG's Review: Atheists Who Kneel & Pray by Tarryn Fisher

On Tuesday I told you all about the new series I'm starting on my blog that I'm doing with my good friend Heather. The series is called Ex's and OMG's and Atheists Who Kneel & Pray is our first book. Enjoy our thoughts!!

Kayleigh:
If you follow Colleen Hoover to the extreme like I do - wow stalker much? - then you all know that she's friends with Tarryn Fisher. Even though she doesn't like her at all of course. (See if you stalk her...I mean follow her...then you'll get that little joke.)
I'm a huge Colleen Hoover fan - whaaaaat? I know, you're shocked - and when I saw her talk about this book on her CoHorts Facebook page I knew I had to check it out. I mean look at that cover.
The book follows Yara who is basically a gypsy. The girl can't stay in one place for to long, always needing the thrill of something new. She's also a self proclaimed muse and lucky for her our love interest David is in need of that very thing. So muse she becomes. But of course the two fall for each other and end up married. Now I know you're probably like um Kayleigh thanks for spoiling that but I swear I'm not. The reason I liked this book was because Tarryn is a really great writer and I've never read anything like this. Plus David was perfection. (Anyone remember that scene from Friends with Chandler and the gum? Gum would be perfection?)
What I didn't like was the back and forth. There were sometimes through out the book where I got really confused because she starts it back in time and then goes to present day. But then goes back again. And then back to now. If you aren't paying close attention it's easy to get confused.
All in all though I did enjoy it!!

Heather:
Okay so I went into the book not knowing much about it which is how I like to start most books, with a clean unbiased slate. So to my surprise it was nothing at all what I was picturing. I fell in love with Yara right away...this brash outspoken woman that was riddled with complexity. Then you meet David, this mysterious guy that sweeps in, is all kinds of charismatic and then leaves you wanting more. There is this push and pull between them that makes you feel like they are meant to be, but then you quickly realize this isn't a fairytale at all.
As I continued to read I found myself drawn more into the story, I needed to know what was going to happen, how would it end? I liked how it was written in dual perspective so I was able to feel from both of their points of view, which were drastically different. I ended up reading it in two days and when I was finished with the book I was left feeling closure, like I could move on with my life and not constantly wonder about it. Now I will say that there were times when I found Yara to be a bit dramatic for me, like she's too much in her head in my opinion and I would need to take a break because I found myself getting annoyed with her. David however sucked me right in, I felt like was this old soul trapped in a younger body and he was the reason that I needed to know what was going to hapen. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is a true believer in real love, the messy complicated kind that doesn't always make sense on paper.

New Series!!

Good afternoon friends, I hope you're all having a fantastic Tuesday. Today I want to talk to you all about a new series that I'm going to be doing on my blog called Ex's and OMG's.
Some of you may remember my friend Heather who shared her DUFF story with us back in June. If you haven't checked it out you can read it by clicking HERE.
Heather is a book lover like me and we thought it would be fun to start a book club. So the plan is to pick a book in the beginning of the month, take the month to read it and then discuss it at the end of the month. My gosh that's the most I've ever used month in one sentence. Anyway it should be a lot of fun and it's something I'm really looking forward to.
Now here's the part i'm sure you'll all eat up. Heather is married to my ex fiance. Wowzers how on earth did we become friends right? Because Heather is great and reached out to me last year. I realized what a sweet girl she is and it was impossible to not become friends. We know that a lot of people think were nutballs for being friends and even though it may be uncoventional I couldn't be more grateful. So because of our past we came up with our series Ex's and OMG's. Ex's is pretty self explanatory now and OMG's because books make us use that phrase a lot. I mean hot guy in book? OMG. Book sucks? OMG. I have to wait a year for the second book? O.M.G.
Our first review will be up this Thursday so I hope you all check it out and let us know what you think.
Have a great day book lovers!!

The Season of You and Me by Robin Constantine

Some of you know that I have a book reward system that I try to stand by. When I complete a few books I reward myself with a new one. Keeps me motivated ;)
I had finished book four in the Crossfire series and I was stumped for what to read next so I went to the bookstore with my mom.
When I book shop I have 3 stages.
Stage number 1: Skim shelves
Stage 2 Grab books I'm interested in and then pile them up
Stage 3: Go through and put half of the books back because I can't afford them.
I had my pile narrowed down to 3 and I asked my mom to choose to which she said no please don't make me. I made her. She chose this one.
The book is told in dual POV - yes I know you're all well aware by now that I love that. Our main peeps are Cassidy who recently broke up with her cheating piece of poop boyfriend and Bryan who after a dare gone bad no longer has the use of his legs.
Cassidy wants to get away from her skeezy ex boyfriend so she decides to go stay with her dad for the summer and be a camp counselor which is what initially made me attracted to this book. I only went to 7th grade camp but I did love it. I remember when I was little I wanted to be a counselor when I grew up but I never did it, so you could say I wanted to live vicariously through Cassidy. Bryan has been a counselor at the same camp for years and isn't going to let the lack of mobility keep him away, even though some parents have expressed a concern.
The two of them end up meeting and becoming really good friends. Cass doesn't treat Bryan like he has something wrong with him and I think that's really cool. I can't even begin to imagine what that situation would be like and for her to not coddle him is really great.
I haven't read a good young adult contemporary in a while so this was really refreshing. I will tell you that in the beginning I did struggle to get into it. I thought I'd be hooked from the start but I wasn't. However once I did get into it I didn't want to put it down.
If you are looking for a lighthearted and sweet read then I'd recommend you pick this one up ;)

Until Friday Night by Abbi Glines

This woman can do no wrong in my eyes. The first book I read by Abbi was the first book in the Vincent Brothers duology and I enjoyed it fine. I didn't love it but thought it was good. I remember deciding to pick up the second and loving it. That's when I found the Rosemary Beach series and I have never looked back.
I bought Until Friday Night a year ago and have been keeping it on my shelf for the right moment. As you all know I've been reading the Crossfire series by Sylvia Day and a couple weeks ago I finished the 4th book. I searched my library for the 5th one but with no luck. I went home and was like okay so you can either wait until you can order the 5th or you can pick up another book. Sometimes when I stop reading after I've been on a really great reading streak it puts me in a slump. So you guessed it, I looked on my shelf for another read. I saw this one sitting there and I said to myself in my best Morgan Freeman voice, "It's time."
I started it at about 11:00 p.m. while my son was sleeping and stayed up until about 2ish. If you have kids you understand that you don't get a lot of sleep so you don't usually want to waste it. I couldn't put this down though! I kept saying the whole "one more chapter" which lets be honest, it's a joke.
My darn eyelids betrayed me though and started getting heavy so I decided to finish it the next day while my son took his nap. Which I did. And I loved it.
I smiled like I did the first time I saw Leonardo DiCaprio in Titanic and I cried like I did at the end of that dreadful movie.
In typical Abbi fashion Until Friday Night is told in dual perspectives which for the 108th time I love.
Our main lady is Maggie who has had some serious hell in her life. She witnessed her father murder her mother. Yikes. Ever since she hasn't spoken a word. She was living with her godmother but ends up going to live with her moms brother, wife and son who is the same age as her.
Our main fella is West Ashby who is the typical "Big Man on Campus" but who is dealing with some pretty sad stuff at home with a sick father.
The two meet at a field party one night when West is upset and decides to kiss Maggie. Next day at school he's a dick and she decides that he wasn't worth her time.
Obviously that doesn't last long or this would be a pretty shitty book.
West ends up coming clean with Maggie on his home life and she speaks for the first time - to him.
I absolutely 100%, without a doubt, no joke, loved this couple. I was hooked from the first page and stayed in love after I finished it.
Whether you've read this goddess' books before or not I DEFINITELY recommend you pick up Until Friday Night. You will not regret it.

The Mid Year Book Freak Out Tag August 2017 Edition

I did this tag in 2015...and a couple months ago hehe...but I love it and it's fun to see where we are. ;)

1. Best book you've read so far in 2015.
Gah!! I'm so conflicted. I loved Dangerous Lies by Becca Fitzpatrick but I loved Until Friday Night by Abbi Glines too. Can we just say both? Please? DON'T MAKE ME CHOOSE!!

2. Best sequel you've read so far in 2015.
Do Like A Memory and Because of Lila count as sequels? Yes?

3. New release you haven't read yet, but want to.
I'm not sure when it was released - if it was even this year - but the last book in the Crossfire series.

4. Most anticipated release for the second half of the year.
John Greens new book obviously.

5. Biggest disappointment.
Beastly Lights by Theresa Jane.

6. Biggest surprise.
To be real with you I didn't know I'd love Dangerous Lies as much as I did.

7. Favorite new author. (Debut or new to you)
The only new author that I've read that I really enjoyed is K.A. Tucker. I have really enjoyed the Crossfire series by Sylvia Day but I don't know if I would read other books by her and I wouldn't hesitate to read more by K.A. Tucker.

8. Newest fictional crush.
Back in 2015 I chose an Abbi Glines character. Here in 2017...I'm going to choose an Abbi Glines character :P I'm going with Cruz Kerrington or West Ashby. <3

9. Newest favorite character.
I really loved West guys.

10. Book that made you cry.
Until Friday Night by Abbi Glines, Confess by Colleen Hoover, and I'm sure there were others.

11. Book that made you happy.
Even though Without Merit by Colleen Hoover has some sad moments that book made me laugh out loud. That woman is a genius.

12. Favorite book to film adaptation you saw this year.
I have only watched one book to movie adaptation this year and that was Fifty Shades Darker so I suppose we'll go with that one.

13. Favorite review you've written this year.
Probably my review for To Hate Adam Connor, that was a fun one.

14. Most beautiful book you've bought so far this year (or received)
I think the cover for Until It Fades is GORGEOUS.

15. What books do you need to read by the end of the year?
So. Many.

Because of Lila by Abbi Glines

Two days ago I reviewed Like A Memory for you all and told you all how much I loved it. The night that I finished it I picked up Because of Lila because...why wouldn't I? I stayed up until like 2 reading it and then finished it the next day.
That is one of my favorite things about Abbi's books, they are so addicting and easy to read. Let's just take a moment to appreciate her greatness.
...
Wasn't that lovely?
Alright on with the review.
Because of Lila is obviously about Lila Kate who is Grant and Harlow's daughter - from Rosemary Beach. Lila has always been in love with Cruz Kerrington - who is Woods and Della's son. He kissed her when they were in their early teens and she'd been hooked since. They are 21 and 22 - if I remember right - now and one night at a party Cruz kisses her again but then is an a-hole and calls her icy and other not friendly things.
Lila decides she's an adult and she's going to leave Rosemary Beach - and Cruz - and go on an adventure. Her first stop is Sea Breeze to stay with Nate and Bliss. There she meets Eli - who we meet in Like A Memory and is Bliss's best friend. The two have a one night stand and the next morning are both at Bliss and Nate's house having breakfast. Awkward.
Back in Rosemary Beach Cruz finds out that Lila left and it bothers him more than he thought it would. So what does he do? He takes off on his motorcycle to Sea Breeze and tells Lila to get on his bike with nothing but what she has on her and they'll go on her adventure together. Obviously since she's in love with him she goes.
The two realize their feelings for each other, well I suppose it's more like Cruz mans the f up and admits his feelings and it's pretty stinkin' hot.
I'm not going to tell you anymore because duh why would I ruin it for you?
I told you in my last review that I checked out other peoples thoughts on Like A Memory and just for kicks I did the same for this one. I noticed a lot of people saying that they thought the kids of our favorite characters are kind of jerks and that bothers them. I'm going to be honest, Cruz has some very unlikable moments but let us remember that Rush was kind of a huge dick to Blaire and Woods, Grant, and the rest of the lot were also not the sweetest at times.
I love the characters desperately and i'd definitely recommend Because of Lila.
p.s. I also totally ship Cruz and Lila. In love. Not surprising though since Woods is everything and we're talking about his spawn.

Like A Memory by Abbi Glines

When I first heard that my beloved Abbi Glines was releasing this series I almost fainted. Seriously, i'm not playing.
It is by no means a secret that I love the Rosemary Beach series. I don't really think we even need to address my love for it because you guys are well aware by now that it's my favorite - next to the Marked Men series by Jay Crownover. Which you also know, who are we kidding.
I have only read the first book in the Sea Breeze series so I don't know all of the characters from those books but Abbi said it's not necessary to even read ANY of the books first but it will provide you with a background. At first I wanted to read the Sea Breeze books before I started this one but I couldn't, I'm far to impatient.
I started reading Like A Memory last Thursday and finished it Friday.
I loved it. I know, I'm sure you're all shocked right now.
So because I haven't read the Sea Breeze books I don't know much about Bliss' parents but Nate is the son of Rush and Blaire who start of the Rosemary Beach books.
When they were teenagers the two met in Sea Breeze and fell in love. Unfortunately after their summer together plans to meet up disappeared when Bliss was diagnosed with a series disease. She didn't want Nate to see her sick so she never responded to any of his calls or texts. Years later they are now in their 20s and Bliss has been clear for 4 years. She decides to move in with her best friend and work for a girl who is opening a clothing store. This girl also happens to be engaged to Nate Finlay.
Nate pretends like he doesn't remember Bliss - which I mean ouch - but that whole act doesn't last long.
I read a few reviews before I started Like A Memory and I was surprised by how many people didn't like it. To be honest it made me nervous going into it. I'm so mad at myself for letting other peoples opinions worry me because I loved it.
If you are a fan of either the Sea Breeze books or Rosemary Beach...or perhaps you just want a good love story...then I definitely recommend you pick this up!!

Entwined With You by Sylvia Day

In the last few weeks I've reviewed the first 2 books in the Crossfire series and I'm here with you today to bring you my review for the third installment.
*Golf clap*
It should go without saying that if you haven't read the first two books you shouldn't read this review. Notice I said "it should" I have chosen to still say it and really beat that horse.
DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU'VE NOT READ THE FIRST TWO.
I AM NOT JOKING.
THIS IS NOT A DRILL.
PROCEED WITH CAUTION.
ACTUALLY DON'T PROCEED UNLESS YOU'VE READ THE FIRST TWO BOOKS.
--------
If you read the last book - which you darn well better have - you know that Gideon killed Nathan. You also know that him and Eva had to "break up" because Gideon didn't want there to be a connection to the jackass. Eva and him obviously can't stay away from each other though and decide that it's okay to come out as a couple again but they struggle with how to go about doing that. Because of that for a while they just sneak around. Which is kinda hot. And by kinda I mean whoa nelly.
While the two are dealing with everything an ex of Gideon's who is a reporter starts questioning Eva about their relationship. I have to tell you guys I feel really bad for Eva. I mean come on, it's like she can't catch a break from these witches with a b. She also is dealing with Brett again who won't let her turn him down. He ends up asking her to come to his music video reveal for "Golden" the song he wrote about her and it's basically a montage of their relationship.
Another thing happens in this book which made me such a happy little book blogger. I'm not gonna tell you though, I want you to be surprised. :)
I loved getting to see more of Eva and Gideon but also of other characters we've met such as Megumi and Cary. I also really love Eva's dad so any time he's mentioned in the books I get all smiley.
All in all if you've read the first 2 then I definitely recommend you keep up with the series and check this one out. So far it's probably my favorite.

Happy Bookaholic Tag Take Two

Back in 2014 my 24 year old self did this tag. I saw it on another bloggers page - well I saw theirs - and it made me want to do it again. I figured hey it's been 3 years, I wonder if my answers will change at all. I included my old answers below as well as my new answers so we can all see how much they've changed. 2014 answers will be like this and 2017...will not. Enjoy!! :)
1. What do you love about buying new books?
The feeling you get knowing you're holding a new adventure in your hands. Wow that sounded lame.

I love being able to escape which is basically the same answer I gave 3 years ago but in different words. Books take us into different worlds and it's nice to escape sometimes.

2. How often do you buy new books?
I bought a book last Friday and that's the first book I've bough in months. I used to go on crazy book buying sprees but lately I just haven't been interested. It's a problem, I know.

I bought the 4th book in the Crossfire series by Sylvia Day like 2 weeks ago? I told myself that if I could finish 3 books then I was allowed to go buy a new one. I have been able to do that occasionally but sometimes money is spent on other things like food and other things necessary for living.

3. Bookstore or online book shopping - which do you prefer?
I love going to the bookstore because it's fun to be able to see the books and hold them. But I also like online shopping because it's usually a lot cheaper, especially for hardcover books.

I still love going to the bookstore and looking for books but now that I have a very active and interested toddler and tighter fundage it's much easier to do online shopping. However when we do go to the bookstore it is exciting to see how happy he gets to look at books.

4. Do you have a favorite bookstore?
There is a used/new bookstore about 2 hours away that I've gone to quite a bit and I LOVE it.

Amazon has been my friend lately.

5. Do you preorder books?
The only physical book I've ever pre-ordered is Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer. But I have ordered quite a few e-books.

Breaking Dawn is still the only physical book I've ever pre-ordered.

6. Do you have a monthly book buying limit?
Not right now only because I haven't really been buying books. When I do get addicted to book buying I usually buy them used so I never really spend a lot of money.

Nope, never really saw a need for it.

7. Book buying bans - are they something for you?
Ha. That's laughable. No, they are in fact not for me.

Haha, still no.

8. How big is your wishlist?
So. Big.

So. Big.

9. Which 3 books (from your wishlist or preorders) would you like to own now?
-Nash by Jay Crownover
-Rush Too Far by Abbi Glines
-City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare

-Without Merit by Colleen Hoover (which I was actually just sent an ARC of!! :) I'm so stoked it's insane)
-Turtles All The Way Down by John Green
-Like A Memory by Abbi Glines (Yep, still adore that woman)

Reflected In You by Sylvia Day

Last week I told you all my thoughts on Bared To You which is the first book in the Crossfire series. Now when I began this series I thought it was only three books. Saturday I was with my son and we decided to go into the bookstore - well I decided, he was just happy because there were toys. While in there I saw that there are in fact 5 books in total. 5. Not 3. This made me a very happy reader because I am currently finishing up book 3. I thought I was going to have to wait years to see if she'd write another book and hot damn she'd written two. It was a beautiful moment. :P
Alright so lets get into the review. If you haven't read the first book then stop reading!!
I mean it.
Stop.
I'm not playing around.
Totally using my mom voice right now.
Alright, I've given you fair warning.
...
Last chance.
Okay, so in this book we see more of Eva and Gideons relationship.
That's all I'm telling you.
Hehe, not really.
At the end of the first book our couple were having some issues in the jealousy department and in the "Gideon won't tell any secrets to save his life" department.
In this installment there is still jealousy and Gideon still won't fill us in on many secrets.
I have to say though, these two sizzle off the page. Seriously guys, Sylvia Day knows how to write some steamy love.
I liked that we got to look deeper into the pasts of these characters, I loved Eva's dad and his visit, I loved the tension Brett caused, I still am totally infatuated with Cary. I really really liked it. The ONLY thing that got on my nerves a tid bit was Eva's jealousy. She's like off the charts sometimes. I get it, I get jealous too. And Gideon is a hunky man and she doesn't want to share. But sometimes I think she's a little immature about things and that bothers me. One of my least favorite things in the world is miscommunication and I think that this happens a lot between our couple.
All in all though I liked Reflected In You and I picked the 3rd book up right away...I'm also expecting the 4th book in the mail by tomorrow :)
