Divergent Movie Review

I've never done a movie review on here but I thought it might be fun so I'm going to go for it and hopefully not suck.
If you haven't read the book/watched the movie then wtfrench toast are you doing reading this review? Silly people go away!
I have one word for you guys.
Wow.
This movie was so dang good! Like holy crap good.
I went into expecting it to be cool but I didn't think that I would be so into it! I loved the book Divergent so when I first heard about the movie I was stoked. However after reading Allegiant I've gotta be honest and tell you that I wasn't as excited for the movie.
I'm not going to get into why that was because if you haven't yet read Allegiant (what's wrong with you?) I don't want to ruin anything. But I will say that I don't at ALL like how the series ends so I wasn't that pumped for the movie anymore.
However Shailene Woodley is bomb and Theo James is kick-ass and delicious so I wasn't missing this movie.
I had so much fun watching it that as soon as it was finished I wanted to go see it again!
I've been really happy with book to movie adaptations lately because they have been reeeeally close to the book. This makes my heart happy.
Whether or not you've read the books I really believe that you'll like the movie.
I went to see it with my brother and my best friend (neither of which have read the book) and they loved it!
It's got the romance I wanted and the action that kept me on the edge of my seat. I can't wait until they make the second movie.
Before I wrap this up I have to say that the acting in this movie was incredible! Shailene has come SO far from her Secret Life days and Theo was incredible. I also really enjoyed seeing Miles Teller (even though he was a dick) and Kate Winslet. Ooooh I was also freaking out when I saw Ansel Elgort!
All in all I loved this movie so I definitely think you should go watch it. Like now.
GO!

Theresa Weir Interview

If you could see my face right now you'd be able to see how excited I am to have done this interview.
I read He's Come Undone in a few hours the other day and did a review for it on Tuesday.
In case you haven't already figured it out...I FREAKING LOVED IT!
It was so so good.
It was like watching a movie in my own head.
Ah.  LOVE.
Okay, okay enough about the goodness of the book. Onto the greatness of the author, Theresa Weir. She's amazing guys.
She is beyond nice and was so much fun to talk to.
I had so much fun doing this interview with her and I think you guys are going to love it!
Enjoy!

1. What made you want to become a writer?
I was always a huge reader. I think one reason I started writing was to tell myself a story in order to escape the situation I was in.

2. What is the best part of being an author?
My favorite part might be the feeling that comes when a story is going well. Tied with that is a positive reader reaction once the story is out in the world.

3. If you could co-write a book with any author, who would it be?
J.D. Salinger.

4. What are three tips you would give to aspiring writers?
Oh, wow. I can think of so many things. Learn story structure. Don't insist that your story has conflict when it doesn't (every story needs conflict). Establish that conflict early. Know the difference between internal and external conflict. Don't make readers work too hard to figure out what's going on. They'll put your story aside and never pick it up again. Don't think you're creating mystery by withholding information the reader needs. You're only creating irritation. Don't let your backstory overshadow the present story. Okay. More than three. I'll shut up. :)

5. If you could write/co-write one episode of ANY television show, which one would you choose?
I always wanted to write for Buffy. A current show might be The Walking Dead.

6. How did you come up with the idea of He's Come Undone?
It's very strange, because I thought my idea was so unique even though no plot is truly unique. I was on a mind-quest for plots, playing out different scenarios in my head, and came up with the idea of someone kind of slobby and maybe even geeky being hired to break a guys heart. I put it in my plot file and couldn't let it go. I HAD to write it. And like I said, I thought it was unique! That is the bubble writers sometimes live in. Once the book came out, people started referencing the movie John Tucker Must Die, a movie I'd never heard of. Out of curiosity I looked it up on Netflix, but it's unavailable. I figure I'll stumble across it some afternoon in five or ten years and I'll think, Hey, that's the movie. The one so many readers mentioned. If I'd known it existed I wouldn't have written He's Come Undone, so maybe ignorance is bliss. I think the similarity in plot might set up the wrong expectations because the movie sounds like it's a light comedy. Maybe?

7. Julian is totally book boyfriend material, who's your book boyfriend?
I write for four reasons: To satisfy the need to create, to make a living, to entertain others, and to entertain myself.
At the core of this whole thing, when I'm deep in the process, I'm telling stories of my own entertainment. So maybe it's okay to name one of my own characters as a book boyfriend. That person would be homicide detective David Gould of Play Dead and Stay Dead, a suspense series I write under the name Anne Frazier. I once had an editor describe him as despicable--a person with no redeeming qualities, but she didn't get him. I tend to write broken men and broken people in general. And how they deal with their own brokenness is what I find most appealing about them.

8. Ellie is such a funny and relatable character, who are some of your favorite female characters?
I'm so glad to hear you say that about Ellie. I always worry that my female characters behave maybe too much like men, so it's so nice to get your reaction to her.
I'm jumping into the way-back machine for most of this. Holly Golightly, Scarlett O'Hara, Clarice Starling, Buffy. I definitely like strong females.

9. Woo hoo He's Come Undone is becoming a movie! Who would you want to play your characters?
This is tough, because I've already demonstrated how pathetically clueless I am when it comes to movieland. I tend to watch series television, and I just realized there's a lack of twenty-something actors on the shows I watch. Obvious actors would be Emma Watson and Zac Efron, but I'm going to go with Greta Gerwig and Anton Yelchin. All suggestions and auditions welcome.

10. If He's Come Undone had a theme song what would it be?
Way-back machine again. Big Star's "Take Care" from Third/Sister Lovers. I was listening to that album while working through the scene near the end of the book where the cops come to Ellie's apartment. The song is about someone who's unstable and a danger to himself. It's not one of their better songs, but it fits the story and has this very plaintive quality to it.

Crazy amount of thanks to Theresa for taking the time to answer my questions! Thank you so much! You rock!

He's Come Undone by Theresa Weir

I'm pretty sure you all know that I'm a huge New Adult fan. The other day I was browsing the New Adult section on Netgalley and saw He's Come Undone. The premise reminded me of the movie John Tucker Must Die - which uh hello I love - so I requested it.
Netgalley I'm so happy that you love me and approved me for this book!
I loved it!
As I said it reminded me of John Tucker Must Die but really it's not like it at all - aside from the girls seeking revenge aspect.
One of the biggest difference's is that Ellie doesn't become amazing friends with the girls who want revenge. Another huge difference is Julian (our main fella) is WAY better than JT.
Ellie was a child actor who's now broke (Thanks mom for taking all the money.) Since she's broke she responds to an acting job on Craigslist.
When she gets to the coffee shop where she's meeting her new "employer" she finds three girls sitting at the table and instead of wanting to cast her in a play or movie they want to cast her as the heartbreaking heroine that's going to crush a man-whore's heart. Little do the girls know that Julian - said man-whore - is in fact a really great guy.
Ellie reluctantly agrees to the job but starts getting nervous when she actually sees Julian. He's amazing.
The girls change Ellie's wardrobe, hair color, and give her pointers on how to win him over.
Of course they fall for each other - it wouldn't be a very good book if they didn't.
But this is more than just a revenge turns romance type of book. There is SO much more to it than that.
I read this book in just a few hours because I could NOT put it down.
I loved it and I definitely recommend it!
The eBook is only 99 cents on kindle, nook, and kobo right now! You can't freaking beat that people! Hop to it and pick it up!

Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover

The feelings I have for this book are indescribable.
However I'm going to try my hardest to describe them because otherwise this is a pretty crappy review.

This book is incredible.

I have not laughed out loud and cried this much since I first read The Fault in Our Stars by John Green.

I've read Slammed and Hopeless by Colleen Hoover so I knew she was amazing but she's out done herself with Maybe Someday.

I started this book two nights ago around midnight and unfortunately had to put it down after about an hour and a half because my eyes were tired. I picked it up again last night with the intention of just reading a few chapters. I couldn't put it down! I stayed up until 3 am to finish it. That's dedication people.

Our main character gets screwed over by her boyfriend and best friend who also happens to be her roommate. She obviously doesn't want to stay in the apartment with her backstabbing friend so she ends up going to stay with Ridge.
It probably doesn't seem strange that she goes to live with someone else but she's never actually talked to Ridge. The two of them "met" while on their balconies. Ridge would come out every night and play guitar and Sydney began to put lyrics to his melodies. One night Ridge makes a sign asking for her number so they can possibly write a song together. Annnnd the rest is history.
While living with Ridge, Sydney realizes that she might just have feelings for him...and he just might have the same feelings for her. Unfortunately Ridge has a girlfriend. I know what you're thinking, love triangles? Really? Ugh. But this isn't the kind of love triangle we've read over and over again. Ridge's girlfriend, Maggie, is an incredible person which of course makes it really hard to want him to leave her.
One minute I wanted him with Sydney and the next I was hoping he'd stay with Maggie.
I've read a lot of amazing books that give me a lot of amazing feelings but this is different. You guys just won't understand how good this is until you read it.
I felt SO connected to the characters it was insane! Sydney is such a great character and so is Ridge. (He's also super crush worthy, mmmhm)
I also LOVED Warren (Ridge's best friend, and roommate) and Maggie.
This book is a freaking rollercoaster of emotions but in such a good way.
All I know is that I loved this book and I hope that one day I find someone as amazing as Ridge.
Maybe someday.

Finding My Forever by Heidi McLaughlin

I very rarely review a complete book series. I'm not sure why I don't...I just don't. I have quite a few favorite book series but I don't feel it necessary to tell you all how much I love each and every one.
Well I feel it necessary now.
I freaking love the Beaumont series!
If you've read the other reviews you know how I fan-girled over Liam and Harrison. To be honest I was always a fan of Jimmy but he wasn't one of my absolute favorites. However I have always adored Jenna.
When I found out that this installment followed Jimmy and Jenna I was intrigued. Jenna is so sweet and Jimmy...well Jimmy is a slut.
I didn't think this was possible but I loved this book even more than the first two!
Harrison is still my husband but this book was incredible!
We got the love between Jimmy and Jenna to keep us all happy but we also had a really cool suspenseful spin.
We learn in the earlier books that Jenna's ex husband used to beat her and that stupid son of a bitch makes an appearance in this book. I hated him. I love Jenna so much and as soon as he appeared I wanted to personally kick his ass and protect Jenna.
One of my biggest pet peeves in books is when I can't get emotionally attached to the characters. I have no problem getting attached to ANY of the characters that Heidi writes.
I don't really want to say much more about the actual plot of the book only because I don't want to spoil anything for you. I will say though that getting to read more of Jimmy made me a very happy camper. As I said earlier I always liked him but he wasn't a favorite of mine. Well now he is. I love Jimmy and Jenna!
Without giving anything away I want to say that I was REALLY happy with the direction Heidi took with this book. There is a twist that happens with a certain ex girlfriend that could've really pissed me off but luckily it didn't.
I can honestly say now that Heidi McLaughlin is one of my favorite authors.
You guys seriously need to check out these books!
