My Life in Books Tag

I saw this tag over at Dreamland Book Blog and I loved it!! If you would like to check out Beatrice's tag click ----> Dreamland Book Blog

1. Find a book for each of your initials.
K: Keeping The Moon by Sarah Dessen. Never read. Probably won't.
J: Juliet Immortal by Stacey Jay. It has been a hot minute since I've read this book but I do remember really liking it!!
P: Percy Jackson and The Olympians. Oh yes I love that one.

2. Count your age along your bookshelf: What book is it?
I've told you all before that I don't really have a designated "bookshelf" It's disgusting, I know. I have books in a small "bookshelf" above my window, under tables and basically anywhere else I can fit them. But I did count and the book that is 27 in is Shopaholic Ties the Knot by Sophie Kinsella.

3. Pick a book set in your city/country?
Bud Not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis. We had to read this one in middle school so I absolutely can not tell you what it was about but I did like it.

4. Pick a book that represents a destination you'd love to travel to.
Anna & The French Kiss. Because Paris. Duh.

5. Pick a book that's your favorite color.
The Selection by Kierra Cass. That minty blue green color. I live for it.

6. Which book do you have the fondest memories of?
I remember the day that I got Twilight in the mail. It was the very first book I ever ordered from Amazon and I was so stinkin excited. I'll never forget that feeling or the feeling I had while reading it.

7. Which book did you have the most difficulty reading?
I really liked the book Never Fade by Alexandra Bracken but it took me a while. Probably because it was so big and daunting.

8. Which book in your TBR pile will give you the biggest accomplishment when you finish it?
Most of them. :P

The Colleen Hoover Book Tag

I don't know how I didn't find this sooner but I am so glad I finally did!! If you want to check out the original tag made by Marta check out her blog Marta's Bookshelf by clicking HERE!!

Lets get on with it shall we?

1. Maybe Someday
If you had to make the soundtrack for a book, which book would you choose and which songs would you choose?Well my friends my blog is a Book Lovers Playlist because I love books and music so much and I include a playlist in almost every review that I write. I'm going to link my reviews for Colleen Hoover books and you'll find the playlists at the bottom!! :)

2. Slammed
I dare you to make a four verse poem describing your favorite book right now.

Roses are red.
Violets are blue.
I love Auburn,
And Owen too.

Wow guys, I out did myself.

3. Ugly Love
"Love isn't always pretty, Tate." A book that can break your heart and fix it at the same time.

Um, literally every Colleen Hoover book I've read. :)
If I had to choose I would say It Ends With Us. The emotions that I felt while reading that book were intense. I remember staying up late to finish it after my son went to sleep and I just cried and cried. That woman is so darn good at the writing thing.

4. Losing Hope
A book that you would like to read in another characters POV.

I know it would be horribly heartbreaking but I'd like to see Augustus' POV from The Fault in Our Stars. The love he has for Hazel is beautiful and I'd really love to read how he felt.

5. Confess
Lets judge a book by it's title...lets confess. What is a book that no one expects you to like but you actually love?

Hmm...I'm not sure there really is a book that people wouldn't expect me to like. I'm stumped.

6. Warren (Maybe Someday)
Most main characters have a best friend that can either be either very charming, or really annoying. Who is your favorite secondary character? And who is the one you dislike the most?

I've said it before, Adrian Ivashkov is one of my favorite secondary characters ever!! Him and Sydney are absolutely why I picked up the Bloodlines series.
One of my least favorites is Kate from Fifty Shades of Grey. My gosh she's annoying.

7. Miles (Ugly Love)
Very often we find characters with a very troubled, dark and traumatic past that doesn't let them move on. Which characters past would you like to erase to make them feel better?

Without a doubt I would change Rule's past in Rule by Jay Crownover. He has dealt with a lot and I feel so deep for him whenever I read that book. Actually just talking about it now makes me want to read it.

8. November 9
Name a book you perfectly remember the day you read it.

Actually November 9. I was sent the book for review on my kindle and my son - who was just a few months old at the time - was asleep. It was gloomy outside and I decided to start it and couldn't put it down. I will always remember when I read that book because I laughed, cried, smiled, got angry, and all the other feels that are so good.

I've had Alice in Zombieland on my kindle for what seems like an eternity. I wouldn't say I never plan on reading it but I'm not seeing it in my future any time soon.

The Boys South of The Mason Dixon series that Abbi Glines is writing. I think the first one came out this week.

8. A Book On Your TBR That Basically Everyone’s Read But You
Miss Peregrines Home For Peculiar Children.

10. A Book On Your TBR That You’re Dying To Read
I recently started the final book in the Bloodlines series. I've had it since like last year but I've been putting it off because I love the series so much. However I've decided it is time.

Probably Twilight. I still love it so much and I've been thinking about rereading it again soon.

8. Which book made you the angriest?

Pretty much every Colleen Hoover book that I've read. And obviously TFIOS.

Spring Cleaning Book Tag

Since it is now May I and we are into Spring now I figured it was the perfect time to do this tag. I hope you guys like it!!

1. The struggle of getting started
A book/book series that you have struggled to begin because of its size
I read Cinder FOREVER ago and I never continued on with the series. It's not that the books are horribly long but it seems like there's so many. I've read series with more books but for some reason I just find it daunting.

2. Cleaning out the closet
A book/book series that you want to unhaul
I honestly can't think of any books that I don't want anymore. That would be like giving away a part of me and I just can't do that.

3. Opening windows and letting the fresh air in
A book that was refreshing
My darling Ella Maise and her writing is refreshing so obviously by default that means her books are refreshing. Seriously when I read her I just feel so light and happy. It's lovely.

4. Washing out sheet stains
A book you wish you could rewrite a certain scene in
I'm going to say Allegiant and that's all I'm going to say.

5. Throwing out unnecessary knick-knacks
A book in a series that you didn't feel was necessary

I can't really say that I've ever read a book in a series that I didn't think was necessary. I mean things happen that change the story or affect it somehow...so it's kinda necessary.

6. Polishing the doorknobs
A book that had a clean finish
I loved the ending of the Twilight Saga. I don't know if you would call it clean but it was beautiful and that's the same thing to me. ;)

7. Reaching to dust the fan
A book that tried to hard to relay a certain message

Since it's getting a LOT of mixed feelings I'm going to say 13 Reasons Why. I don't think that it "tried to hard" but it sure did push things.

8. The tiring yet satisfying finish of Spring cleaning
A book series that was tiring yet satisfying to get through?
The Mortal Instruments Series. I mean I love it but those books are so darn big!!

9. Looking forward to next Spring

Another Something Different...

Last week I shared with you guys a super cool car renting site and this week I have something else a little different for you. I was contacted by a woman named Carly who works for Loot Crate. In case you don't know what Loot Crate is it's a subscription box service that was established in 2012. They provide boxes of geek and gaming related merchandise which is pretty stinkin cool.
She told me that they're always looking for new ideas and wanted to reach out to fans about creating their own "Dream Crate." I thought it sounded like a lot of fun so I told her that of course I'd participate by creating my own Dream Crate. If you like my picks be sure to let me know and let me know what you would do for your very own Dream Crate. :)

My Theme: Walking Dead Boyfriends
What can I say, I'm a romantic and I love my book boyfriends so why not Walking Dead ;)
For starters we need a shirt that expresses our love for the one and only Daryl Dixon and I'm pretty sure this is the best one for the job.

Who doesn't love Pop Figures? Do you love Glenn? This girl does!! I would love this.

Now I know he isn't everyones favorite, I for one hate him for everything he has done. However..he's fine as hell.
I have this button and it's awesome. Everyone should have this.
Alright I know Hershel is old but he is a good looking silver fox and I love him.

Purple Hearts by Tess Wakefield

When I was approached by Atria to review this book I had to say yes. See I'm an avid watcher of the show Army Wives so as soon as I read that this book was about a guy in the Army there was pretty much no way I was not accepting this book for review.
Purple Hearts follows Luke and Cassie and is told in dual POV. My fav. We all know this by now.
Luke has a troubled past - he was addicted to some seriously heavy drugs and got himself involved with some reeeeally sucky dudes - but he has now joined the Army to prove to his brother and dad that he's changed. Unfortunately the sucky dude that I just mentioned is now threatening Luke and his family. He wants money and he wants it now, problem is he doesn't have it.
Cassie is a singer in a band who has recently lost her main job and is now working at a bar and focusing on her music. Here comes the unfortunate part for her; she gets diagnosed with diabetes. Now she has medical bills and prescriptions on top of her student loans and she can't afford it.
One night while she's working her childhood friend Frankie comes into the bar with his Army friends, Luke included. The two meet and there's instant attraction but then things fizzle pretty quickly once Cassie makes it clear that she doesn't agree with the Army.
After realizing she can't pay for anything Cassie goes to her friend Frankie to ask him to marry her. Why? Because if they are married the Army will give them $2,000 a month and she'll receive the full medical benefits. Frankie gently declines her offer because he has a girlfriend and well...most girls aren't going to be alright with that. Luke however overhears and since he's also in need of extra cash he agrees to marry her.
Luke ends up getting injured overseas and has to return home to his loving wife and things aren't all rainbows and butterflies.
That's all I'm giving you. :P
What I liked about this book is the writing. I thought Tess did a beautiful job writing this story and I absolutely 100% LOVED the concept. I also really liked Luke most of the time and Cassie too. Frankie and Nora - Cassie's best friend and band mate - were probably my favorite characters.
Here's where I had a problem. Like I said, I wanted to read this book because I love Army Wives. For some reason I had it in my head that this book was going to be like watching Roxy and Trevor's love story and that's silly because it's nothing like it. So really my problem is my fault.
I really did like it though and it was an easy read. If you're looking for a good contemporary that is a little deeper than the norm then I definitely recommend Purple Hearts.
