Summer Reading Tag

1. It's morning and a hint of sunshine is in the sky. What book has had a great start for you?
He's Come Undone by Theresa Weir has a great beginning (and middle...and end.)

2. You go outside with a good book in your hand. What book do you choose?
For some reason I really want to say Anna & The French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins. Maybe because it's contemporary and that seems to be the choice genre for summer...I don't know. What I do know is that the book is wonderful and I could read it over and over.

3. You decide to fetch an ice cream to cool down. Name a chilled out/cool read.
Between the Lines by Tammara Webber. It's an amazing contemporary read and perfect for summer. If you haven't read it yet then you best get on it.

4. The sun gets trapped behind a cloud...how annoying. What book has annoyed you recently?
The Probability of Violet & Luke by Jessica Sorenson. I read The Destiny of Violet & Luke a couple months back and enjoyed it--not my favorite Jessica Sorenson book but enjoyable. I couldn't wait for the second book to come out but now that it is I feel like I'm forcing myself to read it.

5. It's later in the day and the sun has moved, time to re-locate. What book has moved you?
I recently re-read The Fault in Our Stars and hello that book gives you more feels than anything. TFIOS all the way for my answer.

6. The day is almost over and it has been fantastic until the end. What book has amazed you to the finish?
Maybe, Someday by Colleen Hoover! Man...that book. So goooood.

Rachel Van Dyken Interview

Before I start this interview I just want to say that I have been truly blessed since starting my blog. I have gotten the privledge to interview some incredible authors who have all treated me so kindly. Rachel Van Dyken is no exception. Since the moment I got to talk to her I felt like I was talking to a friend. She's been incredibly kind to me and I can't express how much that means to me.
This blog is so important to me and when I get the honor to interview my favorite authors it means the whole world to me.
So I just want to say a huge thank you to Rachel for being so sweet and taking the time to answer my questions.
She's an inspiration and I think you guys are going to love her just like I do.
I've never done this before but i'd also like to dedicate this interview to Rachels Uncle Jobob .
Enjoy!

1. What made you want to be an authors and what is the best part?
I actually started off as a school counselor...I'd write books or chapters in between seeing my clients at school and it eventually turned into more than just a hobby--yeah I think it's a full on obsession now ;)

2. IF you could go on vacation with 3 authors, who would you choose?
Oh my gosh that's hard. J.R.R. Tolkien...C.S. Lewis and Jane Austen ;)

3. If you could live in any fictional world, which one would you choose?
My own? LOL is that weird? I would totally want to live in the fictional mafia world I created with my Eagle Elite series.

4. Do you ever base any of your characters off of people that you know?
I try not to, but it's hard not to let other peoples characteristics and mannerisms seep into what you're writing. A lot of times I take pieces of I was see in day to day life and then form my own character.

5. Wes and Kiersten were amazing characters but I also adored Gabe. Who was your favorite character to write?
I loved writing Gabe and Wes. Wes was fun because he was so dang inspirational but Gabe was fun because he had so many layers to the person that he was, my heart broke for him over and over again.

6. Out of all the characters in Ruin who would you want to be friends with the most?
Gabe ;)

7. Wes is a total babe and an easy choice for a yummy book boyfriend. Who is your book boyfriend?
Right now my book boyfriend is Nixon from the Eagle Elite series. He's always been a front runner.

8. Why was Wes and Kierstens story so important for you to write?
It was close to my hear (and still is) because I was dealing with a lot of grief from my uncle being sick with terminal liver cancer. It was my therapy...I feel like Wes helped me just as much as he helped everyone else. It took me two and a half weeks to write the book, it just poured out of me, and so did the tears. My goal was to finish it before my uncle passed away, and to be able to donate the sales to him and my aunt in order to help pay for his medical bills. I'm so happy to say before he died he was able to not only read the book but know without a doubt that people were inspired by his story.

9. Who would you want to cast as your characters if Ruin became a movie?
Oh gosh that's such a hard question. People always ask me that and I end up having this blank look on my face....every single time lol I would just be happy to see it as a movie at this point ;)

10. If Ruin had a theme song what would it be?
Blessings by Laura Story ;)

Ruin by Rachel Van Dyken

Sweet. Holy. Heavens.
I loved this book!
First off may I say that this book was NOTHING like I thought it would be? Honestly I thought it would be another one of those fun New Adult-ish books that were just a quick somewhat enjoyable read.
I haven't been more wrong about something since I thought plaid looked cute with anything.
These characters are some of the most amazing characters I have EVER read about.
I fell in love with Wes in about two freaking seconds and I wanted to be best friends with Kiersten the moment I met her.
I also sincerely adored Gabe. Ah. Gabe. He was such a badass with a heart of gold and I loved that. He wasn't predictable in the least bit so it was very fun to read about him.
Kiersten's uncle and Wes' dad were also amazing supporting characters.
Basically this book is about Kiersten and Wes.
There you go, that's all you get.
I'm kidding.
Kiersten has an interesting past that she'd like to keep behind her so she's somewhat of a shy little Lamb. (Read the book and you'll know exactly what I did there.) When she starts college she meets Wes who is yummy to the max.
When you meet Wes you think he's your typical hot-football-playing college star but really he's not.
Wes and Kiersten fall for each other pretty fast (which I love) but Wes has secrets that he's keeping from Kiersten. Now I'd love to tell you what those secrets are but that would be just silly because I'd ruin the book.
All you need to know is that Rachel Van Dyken is a fabulous author and a freaking genius. I'd also like to make it known that I'm not kidding when I say Wes is a total babe.
If you're looking for a book that's going to make you blubber like you just watched the end of A Walk To Remember or grin like you just saw Chris Hemsworth with his shirt off then you definitely need to check this book out. I promise you it's worth your time!

Finding My Way by Heidi McLaughlin

I started reading the Beaumont Series by Heidi McLaughlin a few months ago and pretty much read them all back to back.
Why did I marathon read them you ask?
Because they are amazing, that's why.
When I heard that Heidi was releasing a prequel book telling us about Liam before he reconnects with Josie I was like heck yes sign me up!
I really enjoyed finding out more about Liam and what made him tick. When you read Forever My Girl you wonder what really made Liam leave Beaumont in the first place. Why did he leave Josie if he loved her so much? Well my friends all of our questions are answered in this book.
It was also really fun meeting a younger Harrison...he's my favorite. :)
Oh and Mason! We get to read more about Mason which was really great. He's already passed away by the time the series started so you don't really know much about him. Sure they talk about him and they have moments where they have memories of him that they share but you don't get much of him. This book obviously wasn't about him so you don't get a ton of him but you get more than you have before and it's nice.
I will admit though that younger Liam pissed me off sometimes..and so did young Josie. WAIT! Don't hate me!
Let me explain!
I understand that he was going through a lot and had an incredible amount of pressure on him but he still didn't need to leave Josie the way he did. And as far as Josie is concerned she pissed me off because Liam was trying to tell her how unhappy he was and she wouldn't listen. She had this perfect little vision in her head and she wasn't swaying.
Aside from the few moments of irritation I really enjoyed this book. If you are a fan of the Beaumont series then I would check this one out.

Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover Cover Reveal

Guys. Seriously, guys. This cover is stunning!
I started reading Colleen Hoover this year and I'm now obsessed with her.
I can not wait until this book comes out! Not only is the cover gorg but the plot sounds so. freaking. good.

ABOUT UGLY LOVE

#1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover returns with a new heart-wrenching love story.

When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she doesn't think it's love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.

Never ask about the past.
Don’t expect a future.

They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.

Hearts get infiltrated.
Promises get broken.
Rules get shattered.
Love gets ugly.

Take A Chance by Abbi Glines

Alright so in case you don't know I am a big Abbi Glines fan and am in freaking love with the Rosemary Beach series.
Fallen Too Far started off my love last year and i'm still as in love with these characters as I was the first time I read about them.
If you haven't read the other books in the series then I suggest you stop reading this right this second and go read them...then please come back. ;)
I suppose you don't really HAVE to read the other books to read this one but it will make a lot more sense if you do.
This book follows Grant and Harlow.
The two met at Blair and Rush's wedding and since their first meeting they've had the googly eyes for each other...they just couldn't admit it.
Basically even though Harlow wants to jump on Grant she keeps telling herself that she's not into him because he dated Nan. Now again if you've read the other books then you all know how much Nan sucks. #NanHater.
Any wise girl would think twice about getting involved with a guy that dated the wicked witch because he clearly doesn't have good taste.
However Grant is actually a really great guy and has it bad for Miss Harlow.
The two of them get together and then of course drama ensues and as in every Abbi Glines book shit hits the fan.
I really love Grant and Harlow so I was super pumped to read about the two of them and their relationship. I also loved getting the chance to see Blair, Rush, Nate, Woods and Della. It's fun when you get to see how your favorite characters are doing.
My only complaint about this book is that the ending was horrible. I mean I really disliked it. I'm kinda ticked at the turn Abbi took with Harlow but I will say it makes me want to read the second book. So I suppose Abbi did exactly what she's supposed to do...she made me want to read more of her books. So kudos.
All in all I think this book was super sexy and a really fun read. I have been in a book slump for a month and this is the book that finally got me out of it.
Check it out!
