I think 5 is enough but I've read books with more and enjoyed them.

It was something by Emily Giffin, it wasn't her fault, I just couldn't get into it.

I think Baby Daddy by Kendall Ryan which came out February 9th. However I'm about to start Colleen Hoovers new book which doesn't come out until July.

Lately I've been borrowing from the library a lot.

The Rules for Disappearing by Ashley Elston

 

   Last year I read and raved about the book Dangerous Lies by Becca Fitzpatrick. For those of you who haven't heard me gush about it then here's a brief synopsis, girl goes into Witness Protection Program because she witnesses something reeeeeally bad. While in her new home she ends up making new friends and falling in love with her new place. Add in some action and you've now completed D.L.

   Since reading Dangerous Lies I've been on the hunt for a book that would give me the same excitement. The other day I was in my local library and stumbled upon The Rules for Disappearing. The cover and title intrigued me so I picked it up and read the plot. Literally one paragraph was all I needed to add it to my pile. Once I got home I was nervous going into it because I didn't know if I was building it up in my head to be as good as Dangerous Lies and I really didn't want to do that considering they're two different stories, just both centered around WPP. I'm happy to report that I was NOT disappointed. At all. I loved it!!
   Megan Jones has been 6 different people, in 6 different places in no time at all. She's tired of being someone she's not so she vows that Louisiana will be the last place her family is moved. She's going to find out why they are in the Witness Protection Program no matter what it takes. Over and over she's asked her father what he has done to land them in this position but it doesn't matter, he won't answer. Without his help it's up to her to find things out herself.
   Enter Ethan Landry the hot farm boy who isn't fooled by Meg. He knows something is off and like her he won't stop until he finds answers. I absolutely loved Ethan's character, I thought he was smart and kind but also sounded like a total babe. He seemed reliable and definitely book boyfriend material. I really enjoyed watching him and Meg together even though sometimes I couldn't help but wish she'd spill everything. It was hard because I felt like Ethans character could handle her secrets but she wasn't ready to share them.
   There were so many twists and turns that I never wanted to stop reading which was fantastic.
   All in all I enjoyed this book very much, so much in fact the moment I finished it I almost started it over.
   I'm giving The Rules for Disappearing 4.5/5 donuts!!

Wait For You by J. Lynn

   Recently I lost my kindle so I've been reading a lot of physical books. Then by some great miracle my mom found my kindle hiding out and now I've been reading on it non stop. I'm a fan of Jennifer L. Armentrout's Lux series so when I found out - years ago - that she was doing New Adult under the name J. Lynn I couldn't wait to check out her writing. It has been many moons since I made this purchase but for some reason I haven't read it. It has just stayed on my kindle waiting for the perfect time and the time is now. Or well...like 2 weeks ago.
   Throughout Wait For You we follow Avery who has a troubled past...as most characters from New Adult books have. Recently she's moved miles and miles away from her family and the town that haunts her. On theher way to her first class of her freshmen year in college she runs into Cam who is awesome. He's cocky but it's endearing. He's beautiful but approachable. He's perfect and she's attracted.
   Not only do the two have class together they also live down the hall from each other in their apartment building which creates some lovely situations. The two quickly become best friends and every day - sometimes multiple times - Cam asks Avery to go out with him, but each time she says no. Obviously eventually she says yes, otherwise I'd hate this book. The date turns into dates and friendship turns into something more. However Avery still isn't being honest with Cam about her past and ends up causing some serious problems between the two of them.
   I loved Cam, I think he's hilarious and charming and honestly one of my favorites. Avery was likeable as well but there were many moments she frustrated me. Now I have no idea what it's like to go through the things she has so I don't know how I'd react with someone either, but she pushed Cam away so much and then was miserable. It bothered me because I hate when people do that. If you love someone and want to be with them then do what you can to tell them. I was interested enough in the book to keep going because I wanted to see what was going to happen. I know there are more in the series that follow other characters we met but I'm not in any hurry to pick them up. I don't want to say Wait For You was a let down because I did enjoy it but it wasn't everything I'd hoped. HOWEVER I did laugh a lot while reading this and as I said Cam is totally swoon worthy.
   So for that I'm going to give it 3.5/5 donuts!

Julia's Chocolates by Cathy Lamb

   A couple weeks back I took a trip to my local library to stock up on some new reading material. While enjoying the smell of old books - yes I'm that weirdo - and perusing the familiar shelves I stumbled upon Julia's Chocolates. I won't lie, chocolate is what caught my attention. I pulled it from where it was wedged so I could read the back and then quickly added it to my growing pile.
   When I opened this book up and began reading I was instantly hooked. Julia has flung her wedding dress in a tree. Why? Because she just left her abusive fiance on their wedding day and doesn't want any semblance of their relationship attached to her as she travels to her eccentric aunts house.
   For me this book was like The Divine Secrets of The Ya Ya Sisterhood mixed with Sleeping With The Enemy and Where The Heart Is. It was dark in parts...really dark in fact but also had me laughing out loud in others.
   All of the characters are phenomenally written and I found myself falling in love with each and every one of them.
   When I went into this I wanted a romance. I thought we'd get something a little like Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks but it couldn't have been further. Julia's Chocolates is more about finding yourself and learning to love who you are. So I guess it is a love story, just not one we're used to. Now there is romance in this book and our love interest is divine, but I loved watching Julia grow comfortable in her own skin and realize her greatness. The only thing that bugged the heck out of me was how often Julia referred to her boobs. I don't know why it drove me as crazy as it did but she mentioned them so much that I would roll my eyes and get annoyed. The pacing was also slow so it did take me a while to finish it. However the moment that I turned the last page I felt myself missing the characters. So you know...that's gotta mean something good. ;) I would love to see this as a movie, Hallmark, Lifetime...you hear me?

My Top 10 Favorite New Adult Books/Series

A couple weeks back or so I gave you all a list of books that I recommended and I thought it would be fun to do one completely dedicated to New Adult reads. Now I will say that I am including a series that was previously discussed but I couldn't not. Couldn't not? Hmm. Also I did a Top Ten Tuesday forever ago that was my Top Ten Favorite books in the New Adult Genre but I didn't just combine books into series so this is different. Anyway I hope you enjoy the my recommendations!

1. The Rosemary Beach series by Abbi Glines
There it is, let us all take a minute to not be surprised together. By now you should all know my feelings on this series so I don't feel like much more is necessary.

2. The Getaway series by Jay Crownover
What? Not the Marked Men? While I do love the Marked Men series and it is one of my all time favorites, the Warner brothers have definitely taken my heart. I do have reviews of these books up so if you'd like to check them out that would be great, if not then a brief review is: Hot cowboys, ranch life, bad ass chicks, hot romance, and leave you on the edge of your seat suspense. Wow, that was well written.

3. Rusk University series by Cora Carmack
Pure gold. This is all I need to say.

4. To Hate Adam Connor by Ella Maise
My word, this read is lovely. It's funny as hell, Adam Connor is sexy as hell, and Ella Maise writes stories that are captivating as hell.

5. November 9 by Colleen Hoover
This is my second favorite book from the incredible Colleen Hoover but I feel like it's the one that needs to be on this list. Why? I don't know, I guess I just felt like I've been neglecting it lately and it needs some good lovin.

6. Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire
I've read Beautiful Disaster twice, once just in January, and I think I might read it again. It's like watching a movie, that's how fantastic Jamie McGuire writes. So in love.

7. Beaumont series by Heidi McLaughlin
Forever My Girl was recently turned into a movie but I have yet to see it. Not that I don't want to, I just live in a very small town and the closest movie theater is a half an hour away and they haven't gotten it yet. I will say I'm hesitant because from what I've seen in the trailer it looks like they've changed quite a bit of the story. I absolutely love this series though and talk about it whenever I can.

8. The Temptation of Lila and Ethan by Jessica Sorensen
<3 <3 <3

9. The Maddox Brothers series by Jamie McGuire
I don't count Beautiful Disaster in this series because it's more of an extension that spawned from that beautiful book. Nonetheless it's a great series which you should go read. Like now.

 I have been so excited to post this interview I've been bouncing. Literally. If you read my review - which will be linked at the bottom - then you know how much I enjoyed The Wonder of You. I was so stinkin' stoked when I got the opportunity to interview Harper that I squealed with delight. The moment I got her answers I jogged around the room with my fist in the air like Rocky. She's so funny and I am so so thankful she took the time to talk with me. So thank you Harper for being so awesome. I'm thrilled with this interview and I hope you all love it too.

1. How long have you been writing?

Oh wow, well, I've been writing all my life, but I've been writing romance since 2014. I love it - totally addicted to HEA's :) I get to offer a slice of funny and happy for a living - how lucky am I?

2. Out of everything you've written what are you the most proud of?

Oh definitely my latest, The Wonder of You. This book is my foray into romantic comedies. I always say making people laugh makes me happy - and it's really true.

3. How did you come up with the plot?

Well, I've been an Alice in Wonderland fan forever, despite the Lewis Carroll creepy factor. The story is basically about a girl going through puberty and I always thought it would be fascinating to see her navigate her sexuality as a young adult. I pitched it to a few publishers, but they were over fairy tale retelling's. So I said - screw it...I'm writing it anyway.

4. How long have you had the idea for The Wonder of You? Was this a difficult book to write or was it more of a fun adventure...down a rabbit hole?

I had the idea in my head for over a year before I even wrote it. Once I started writing it, it was both easy and difficult. Easy because I knew exactly where I wanted the story to go. I knew exactly the dynamic I wanted between Alice and Dare. The comedy made it difficult - I forget who but someone once said "dying is easy - comedy is hard." So frickin' true. I think I'm funny. I love making people laugh, but doing it in book form is totally different than how you'd share a funny at a cocktail party. So that was a beast I needed to slay.

5. I absolutely loved all of the references to Alice in Wonderland! One of my favorites was the teacher who exaggerated his speech like the caterpillar because it literally made me laugh out loud. Did you laugh while writing any of the scenes?

I'm so glad you got that part! You'd be surprised how so many people say they love the original Alice, but missed the references lol. Anyway, I tend to have a really twisted, dark sense of humor, so the stuff that made me laugh in the book is probably what's going to send me to Hell Fed Ex. One of my favorites was Mrs. Grangeworth, Dare's stepmom, who gave all those digs to other society/fashion icons. Shes got a sharp tongue, but is actually a softie underneath it all.

6. If you could spend the day with anyone from Alice and Wonderland who would you choose?

Geez, way to make a momma choose among her babies! Insert snort laugh. Okay, a day with one of my characters...probably either Ingrid or Mrs. Grangeworth, I do love all the girls, but the two I mentioned were my faves - weird, but true :)

7. You get to trade lives with someone from The Wonder of You for 24 hours, who are you?

Oh heck yeah I'd be Dare! I want to be a famous artist with tons of money living the life in NYC.

8. Dare is definitely my new book crush, who are some of your book crushes?

Oooh I love talking book boyfriends. Gideon Cross from the Crossfire series is my all time fave. It actually hurts a little that he's not real (yeah, I'm a lil' sad aren't I?)

9. I would love to see Alice and Dares story on the screen, who would you want to play them?

If Franggy the photographer slash cover model can act, then it would be him. For Alice...Zoey Deschanel. Definitely.

Okay before I answer, can I just say this has been my fave interview of ALL time??? I don't want it to end! You ask the best questions.

Shelter by Jay Crownover

   A little bit back I reviewed Escape which is the third book in the Getaway series. In my review I told you I had yet to read the 2nd book Shelter. Well now I can say I have and oh man am I happy I did.
   If you haven't read Retreat (the 1st in the series) then I suggest you don't read this review) (Really just stop now) (I'm not joking guys I don't want to spoil things for you) (Alright you little rebel, don't listen.) (No but seriously if you haven't read it you should stop.)
   At the end of Retreat Sutton, who is the middle of the Warner brothers, and Emrys, who is Leo's best friend, are kidnapped by drug dealers and things get bad. Real bad. Sutton almost dies and Emrys almost has the ultimate violation occur. Once rescued Sutton wants nothing to do with Emrys which obviously hurts her because she thinks that he's mad at her. In reality he feels guilty for not being able to protect her.
   Flash forward and Sutton is drinking every night trying to chase away the nightmares that are unfortunately real life, and has his world turned around when Emrys walks into the bar he's currently getting his ass kicked in.
   Watching the two of these characters figure out their issues and realize the sizzling hot attraction they have for one another was incredible. Sutton is the kind of guy you want to hold onto and love and Em is the only girl who can break down his walls.
   I loved watching them find their way to one another and also reading about all of the characters we fell in love with in the first book. I will say it was strange reading this after Escape only because I knew what was going to happen with some of the other characters. This didn't ruin anything at all but it was a little weird.
   All in all though I loved it, which is no surprise considering it was written by Jay Crownover.

1. Which trope in books annoy you the most? I feel cliche saying love triangles but I just feel like most aren't that original anymore. Books I Recommend

Good afternoon all, today I'm going to share with you books that I recommend. If you saw the newest Duff story on here then you know Abby and she's actually the one who mentioned in a comment that I should do this. So here we go!

Obviously I would include TFIOS and a number of other well known books in this but seeing how most of you have already read those I'm going to go with less popular books that I think you should read.

**Here we go for real**

1. The Rosemary Beach series by Abbi Glines
I know, you aren't even kind of surprised that I'm mentioning this one. I talk about this series ALL THE TIME on my blog and it's for a good reason. It's incredible. If you're a fan of New Adult/contemporary/romance/delicious love stories then you have to pick these up!

2. The Marked Men series or the Getaway series by Jay Crownover 
Most of you know that I've loved the Marked Men for many years now and last year I started the Getaway series and am equally in love. I never thought that I would see that happen. The series are different in that Marked Men is about a group of guys who work at the tattoo shop or friends of the guys there. The Getaway series is about sexy cowboys. What I love about Marked Men is how they have the "reformed bad boy" kinda thing going on and I love the relationships. #RuleandShawfolife. The Getaway series is adventure packed and keeps you on the edge of your seat which is why I had so much fun reading them.

3. It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover
Okay so I know I said I was going to go with less popular books and Colleen Hoover is like the Queen but I feel like this book doesn't get as much love as her others and in my opinion it should. I cried and laughed and felt all the feels with this book and I would recommend it to absolutely every person I know.

4. Temptation series by Karen Ann Hopkins
I read this book YEARS ago and was addicted. Gist is Noah is Amish and Rose is not. We get to watch them fall in love and try to be together even though they are so clearly different. I have yet to pick up the last book so I suppose I can't say they are all amazing but I can say the ones I read were addictive and I totally recommend them.

5. The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks
Favorite Nicholas Sparks book. You should read it.

6. The Dark Divine by Bree Despain
Way back before I had my blog and I first discovered BookTube I saw a review of Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick. I thought the girl was cool so I watched more of her reviews and came across The Dark Divine. I remember that I told my aunt - who I was staying with at the time - that I had to go to Barnes and Noble right that second and pick this up. I was completely enamored and even considered rereading it...like last night.

7. Dangerous Lies by Becca Fitzpatrick
This was one of my favorite book from 2017 and I feel like I still haven't shoved my love for it down your throats enough. It's. So. Good. Read. It.

8. The Temptation of Lila and Ethan by Jessica Sorensen
Man, I loved this book when I read it. This is one of those books that is a continuation from another where a different couple tell the story of their romance. Did that even make any sense? Anyway I'm a huge fan of Jessica Sorensen and her stories about Lila and Ethan are by far my favorites.

9. Watersong series by Amanda Hocking
I feel like the first book Wake was popular on BookTube a long time ago but then people stopped talking about them. The books are about Sirens for goodness sake, how cool is that? I have completed this series so I am completely confident in saying that you'll love it.

10. Hex Hall series by Rachel Hawkins
This is another series that I love and hold dear to my heart. I haven't read many books about witches I'll be honest but I can say that I know this would still win out as one of my favorites.

11. Between The Lines series by Tammara Webber
If you've been following my blog since the beginning then you know how much these books mean to me. I did a Tammara Webber week once. Yeah. I know. This series is so sweet and easy to read. There are moments that are serious that give it more of an edge and I think you'd all love them.

12. My Favorite Mistake by Chelsea M. Cameron
This was one of the first New Adult books I ever read...actually it may be the very first. Anyway it's awesome and if you like New Adult then check this one out. Boy roommate. Lets just leave it at that.

13.The Catastrophic History of You & Me by Jess Rothenberg
Another book that was popular on BookTube but then just fell off the face of the planet. I read this book in a day if I remember right and was obsessed.
