Beautiful Oblivion by Jamie McGuire

Beautiful Disaster was one of the first New Adult books I ever read. It's also the New Adult book that got me hooked on the genre. When I found out that Jamie McGuire was going to write more about the Maddox boys I. Went. Nuts.
I was interested in reading more about Trenton so I was excited for this book. What I didn't expect was to fall head over heals for Trenton Maddox!!
Beautiful Oblivion is INCREDIBLE!
Seriously guys if you like New Adult you have to read this book. What's great is you don't have to read Beautiful Disaster to understand this one.
Beautiful Oblivion is told from Cami's perspective. She's a really cool chick who works at the local bar and went to school with the Maddox boys.
One night Trenton comes into the bar and shamelessly flirts with her. She pretends that she's not interested because she has a boyfriend but we all know she is. Her boyfriend T.J. is never around and you know it's not going to last long.
It's very clear from the beginning that Trenton has been in love with her forever so you find yourself rooting for him even more throughout the book.
The two begin to hang out every now and then...and then every day. Cami even starts working at the tattoo shop that Trenton works at. The two become almost like best friends but the feelings are still very clear.
I'm not going to tell you too much more just because I don't want to ruin it. What I will say is that this book was absolutely wonderful. I really grew to love Cami and as I said Trenton is my new book boyfriend. The supporting characters were also really cool. I especially liked Kody who was a guy that Cami works with at the bar.
This story also runs parallel to Abby and Travis's relationship so you get to see Travis behind the scenes and you get Trent's and Cami's perspective on their relationship.
I really don't know what else to tell you all except for GO BUY THIS BOOK!!

Top Ten Authors We Own The Most Books Of

10. John Grisham

I actually have no idea how many books I own by Mr. Grisham but I know it's a nice collection. My mom is a HUGE Grisham fan so I went on a buying binge whenever I'd find his books at used bookstores. Unfortunately I have yet to read any of them.

9. Sarah Dessen
I believe I have 6 or 7 Sarah Dessen books. I'd love to count for you guys but I'm currently two hours away from my books so it's impossible. I looked her books up online but I can't remember if I have one of them or not.

8. Louis Rennison
I bought the first 6 books in the Georgia Nicolson series about 2 years ago but have only read the first book.

7. Charlaine Harris
I used to be obsessed with the Sookie Stackhouse series until about book 6. It's not that it wasn't good I just couldn't bring myself to ever finish it. So in case you didn't already guess I own 6 books by Charlaine Harris.

6. J.K. Rowling
So I own 6 books by this author but have not read a single one. Yes I know, I suck. Please don't hate me.

5. Stephenie Meyer
Ah the Twilight creator. Yep she makes the list at 6 books.

4. Cassandra Clare
I have the first 5 in the Mortal Instruments series and all 3 in the Infernal Devices trilogy which brings my total to 8 (In case you aren't good at math) ;)

3. Richelle Mead
I currently have 8 books by this fabulous author. I have the entire Vampire Academy series but only the first 2 of the spin-off series, Bloodlines. I bought Bloodlines when it came out in paperback and then the second one as soon as that came out in paperback. So now I must have them all the same way or they won't match. You understand.

2. Sophie Kinsella
Sophie Kinsella is one of my favorite authors so of course I have quite a few of her books. My total so far is 9.

1. Nicholas Sparks
Nicholas Sparks is one of my all time favorite authors. I love him so much that I used to buy his books whenever I'd find them at a used bookstore. I did give some of my copies to my aunt because she's a big fan but I do still own the movie covers of most of his books in addition to the original covers. So with all of that being said I own about 19 books...I think.

Because Feelings Matter Book Tag

1. What book made you feel confident, either about yourself or your life?
Faking It by Cora Carmack made me feel somewhat confident because Max was such a strong female character. Reading through her eyes made me feel like I was a badass too.

2. What book made you feel sympathetic or sympathise greatly with the characters?
TFIOS by John Green, duh!

3. What book made you feel anxious?
Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins because I never knew what was going to happen with the characters. It was a lot of twists and turns that I didn't expect and it kept me very anxious!

4. What book made you feel annoyed?
City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. I picked this book up because everyone raves about it and I honestly had to fight my way through it. Clary drove me nuts! She was so annoying I didn't think I could make it through the other books. However I did keep going with the series and now I can say that I'm also a big fan...although Clary still annoys me from time to time. ;)

5. What book made you feel disappointed?
Allegiant by Veronica Roth. I'm sure that's a pretty common answer for this question but if you've read the book then you know why it's everyones answer.

6. What book made you feel confused?
Okay so don't hate me for this but Looking For Alaska by John Green confused me because I didn't understand the hype. So many people say that's their favorite book/one of the most amazing books and I really didn't care much for it. Maybe I wasn't in the right frame of mind to read it, maybe it isn't for me, who knows? All I know is that the hype surrounding it confused me.

7. What book made you feel satisfied?
Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer, more specifically the end of Breaking Dawn. I'm pretty sure everyone has already read the Twilight series but in case you haven't I'm not going to be the one who ruins it for you soooo all I'm going to say is that the ending was beautiful and left me very happy and satisfied.

8. What book made you feel like you could really relate to the main character?
Well even though Twilight has vampires and werewolves in it I always felt like I could relate to Bella as a person. (Book Bella) She was super clumsy and was awkward a lot and I could relate to that. She also was super swoony for Edward and I can relate to that too ;)

Top Ten Characters I Would Want With Me On A Deserted Island

10. Rush: Rosemary Beach series by Abbi Glines

I'm going to need entertainment and Rush is a talented musician. He can play the guitar and sing so I don't die of boredom.

9. Magnus Bane: Mortal Instruments/Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare
He's a wizard and he heals people. How is that not a good idea?

8. Percy Jackson: Percy Jackson & The Olympians by Rick Riordan
Since his father is Poseidon perhaps he can help us out with the water and escort us off the island.
7. Four: Divergent series by Veronica Roth
Eye candy. Strong. Bad ass. Enough said. ;)

6 & 5 Jasper Hale and Alice Cullen: Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer
I would want Alice with me because I've always wanted to be best friends with her. And I'd want Jasper around mostly for Alice but also so he could control my moods if I start losing my mind about being deserted.

4. Daemon Black: The Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Not only would he be nice to look at but he'd also be able to tell me if aliens were coming.

3. Augustus Waters: The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
I'm going to need some serious comic relief if I'm stranded and Augustus Waters would make being stranded almost worth it.

2. Katniss Everdeen: The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins
Um hello have you seen the things Katniss has gone through?! What if tracker jackers came after me? I need Katniss to protect me. Plus she knows how to hunt so we won't starve to death which is a huge bonus.

1. Edward Cullen: Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer
If I'm on an island I'm hoping it's a tropical island with a lot of sun which means a very sparkly vampire. Also if it's hot then he would be like my own personal air conditioner. He's also incredibly strong which would definitely come in handy.

Mina Vaughn Interview

A few weeks ago I was sent How To Reprimand Your Rock Star so I could read it and review it.

I'm so happy that I got a chance to read this book AND got the chance to interview the author, Mina Vaughn!

I hope you guys like the interview and get a chance to check out her book!
Enjoy!

1. What do you love most about writing?

I love creating new people and experiences! The imagination is an amazing thing and i'm so lucky that I get to share mine with lots of people.

2. Did you always want to be a writer?

I've always been telling stories. My family recalls that I would direct and coordinate all imaginative play when I was a kid, so I was coming up with plots and characters forever. I started formally writing around six or seven years ago.

3. Which authors inspire you the most?

Tiffany Reisz, Alice Clayton, Helena Hunting, E.L. James, Debra Anastasia, and Delilah S. Dawson.

4. If you could be best friends with any fictional character who would you choose?

I would 100% be BFFs with Kingsley Edge from Tiffany Reisz's Original Sinners series. That boy knows how to have a good time.

5. How did you come up with the concept of How To Reprimand Your Rock Star?

I love rock music. Ask any of my friends and they'd tell you that I'm a concert junkie. The rocker mystique is so irresistible, and I imagined that there are more than a few rockers who want to let go of their ego and just let someone dominate them. That's where the idea originally came from, and the thought jazzed me so much that I wrote about 15k of the story in a week!

6. Which scenes did you enjoy writing the most?

Probably scenes with sexual tension with no actual sex. I love the anticipation, the little dance people do when they're courting. Flirting is so fun and sexy, and your imagination goes wild with what the possibilities could be. So yes, tense scenes are my favorite.

7. Who's your favorite character in HTRYRS?

I am personally and unabashedly in love with Keaton. He's so swoony. He's got that suave swagger and that impish quality but underneath he's absolute putty.

8. Which rock star would you want to date?

Brendon Urie from Panic! At The Disco. He's sexy, got an amazing voice, and can do backflips. I'd put that ability to use.

9. If HTRYRS was turned into a movie and you got to pick the cast, who would you choose?

I'd pick Tom Hiddleston as Keaton Lowe and Sarah Shahi as Thea.

10. If How To Reprimand Your Rock Star had a theme song what would it be?

Wild One by Green Day.

How To Reprimand Your Rock Star by Mina Vaughn

I was sent this book for review and was pretty stoked because I loved the plot.
Sometimes when I'm sent a book for review I get nervous going into it because I never want to hate a book--that's just not fun.
Hating it wasn't the case for this book because luckily it didn't suck and I liked it.
It wasn't my favorite book I've read this year but it was enjoyable and I'd recommend it to fans of New Adult.
Thea-our main character- is a basketball star who happens to (awkwardly) meet a yummy rock star named Keaton.
There is an instant attraction between the two and that night Keaton invites her to his show. After the concert the two make plans to see each other again...and again...and again.
Keaton brings out Thea's inner...naughty girl and she starts to get into the whole domme and sub thing.
She becomes goods friend with a girl she goes to school with and who teaches her all about BDSM.

I do want to say that going into this I did NOT know that it was going to have anything to do with BDSM.
It's like super sweet and then BAM Thea turns kinky. To me it was kind of like a mix between 50 Shades of Grey and a teenage chick flick.
I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm a fan of Fifty Shades of Grey so it's not that I was turned off (ha) because of the BDSM aspect, I just wasn't prepared for it.
It was a quick and easy read and I really liked some of the characters.
Unfortunately I felt like Thea wasn't a consistent character. I know everyone has many layers to them but she was just to all over the place to me. I also didn't like that she always doubted Keaton's affection for her.
The other thing that I really didn't like was there was really no conflict. A lot of readers get pissed when a couple becomes a couple in the beginning of the book, I actually like that. Some readers also like when there is a lot of drama. I actually like when the book is pretty chill and nothing bad really happens. I mean we read to escape our reality so why would we only ever want to read about sad/bad things. But (even to me) this book was just to "perfect". There was no drama really or anything to keep you guessing.
However even though I had issues with the book I did enjoy it. Thea had her moments where she was pretty cool and Keaton definitely had book boyfriend potential. I also thought that Mina Vaughn's writing was very clean and easy to read.
So all in all if you like New Adult and rock stars then I think you'd enjoy this book. And unlike me you now know that there's a serious naughty factor so you'll be prepared ;)

Celebrity Book Tag

I saw this tag on YouTube and thought it seemed like fun so I decided I had to do it! Enjoy! :)

1. Emma Watson -- A book with a hot kick-ass female character
Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead would be my go to. Rose Hathaway is a seriously kick-ass female character...however...after seeing the movie I'm somewhat irritated with Rose (I really disliked the movie) so I'm going to go with Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games. Oooh or Tris from Divergent.

2. Ryan Gosling -- A book with the hottest male character
Rule by Jay Crownover or Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout. Those boys are yummy ;)

3. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt -- A book with your favorite fictional book couple
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green--Augustus and Hazel are BY FAR my favorite couple!

4. Shailene Woodley -- Author you've recently discovered and loved
I started reading Colleen Hoover a couple months ago and I LOVE her!

5. Josh Hutcherson- Favorite short story or novella
I'm going to have to go with The Wedding by Jamie McGuire. Ah so good!

6. Dwayne Johnson AKA The Rock -- Favorite Big Book (over 500 pages)
Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer--don't you judge me!

7. Leonardio DiCaprio -- A series with the most upsetting death (NO SPOILERS)
The Divergent series hands down.

8. Kristen Stewart -- A book you found boring
Ruby Red. Ugh.

9. Ian Somerhalder -- Cutest book on your shelf
Oh goodness umm...Anna & The French Kiss is super cheesy but I still think it's cute. I also thing Kody Keplingers books are all pretty cute.

10. Jennifer Lawrence -- Perfect book or series
I'm using TFIOS again because that book is absolutely perfect in every way.

The Summer Book Tag

1. What book cover makes you think of summer?
Everytime I see Amy & Rogers Epic Detour by Morgan Matson it makes me think of summer so there's your answer ;)

2. What book has brightened your day?
I used this book in my last tag buuuut this book seriously brightened my day...Anna & The French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

3. Name a book with yellow on it.
Again I mentioned this book in my last tag but this is the perfect answer for this question. The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky, that whole freaking book is yellow. :)

4. What is your favorite summer beach read?
I've never read a book on the beach but if I had to choose I'd probably pick one of the Rosemary Beach novels by Abbi Glines. I mean they take place on a beach...does it get more perfect?

5. What action book had you running for the ice cream man?
This question is just silly but since I have to answer I'll say...Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. That book had be going crazy pretty much from the beginning.

6. What book has left you with a bad ending?
Allegiant by Veronica Roth. I don't feel as if I need to elaborate on that. You know what I'm talking about.

7. What book gave you the happiest feeling when it ended?
Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover. When I finished this book I had the silliest grin on my face and warm fuzzys in my heart and belly. Ah such a good book.

8. What book cover reminds you of a sunset?
Shoot Amy & Roger would have been good for this. Am I allowed to use the same book twice? Hmm. Okay let me think. Oooh! The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han. Ooh that's a good one.

9. What is one book series you hope to read this summer?
A whole book series? Ugh. I don't know. I know I really really want to read Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover but as far as I know that's a stand alone. There are series that I want to finish but I can't think of any that I want to start so I'm going to say I'd like to finish the Mortal Instruments and the Infernal Devices.
